Highway District 9 Credit Union was chartered July 28, 1953, serving the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) District 9 employees and their family members. Highway District 9 Credit Union has always been committed to the best interest of our members. That’s why we were founded in the beginning, and it’s something we still believe in today. When you have accounts with us, you’re more than just a number – you’re a member and a co-owner.
At Highway District 9 Credit Union, you’re more than just an account holder – you’re a member of a cooperative organization that’s committed to your best interests! Because we are a co-op, we serve a group of people who share a common bond.
Once you become a member, you can stay a member as long as you maintain an active Share (Savings) Account with us (even if you change employers, move out of the area, or retire).
Once your share account is open, you will be eligible for all other credit union services. If you have questions about how to join, if you qualify, questions about your current membership status, or anything else, you can call us. We’re here and happy to help.
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, social security number, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We will also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
You can help us continue to exist in a number of ways.
Share Accounts – Our Savings Accounts are designed to help you save for whatever life throws at you. They can help you build a nest egg or just prepare for emergencies, either way they are a great tool to have. If you have the need to designate funds for a certain purpose, such as insurance, home repairs, or a much-needed vacation, we can do that, too. Dividends are paid semi-annually to the account.
A main Share Savings Account is required for each membership at the credit union. A minimum balance of $25.00 is required to be maintained in the account at all times.
We offer Secondary Savings Accounts that can be named and designated for your individual purpose/need. Secondary Savings Accounts have no minimum balance requirements.
